simplifying by factoring

simplifying by factoring is my worst problem. Can some one help me understand it? I am a novice at it. What book or other resource do you suggest for starting this subject?

It is good to know that you wish to improve your math and are taking efforts to do so. I think you should try Algebrator. This is not exactly a tutoring tool but it offers solutions to math problems in a very descriptive manner. And the best thing about this software product is that it is very user friendly. There are a lot of demos given under various topics which are quite useful to learn the subject. Try it and wish you good luck with math.

Algebrator is the program that I have used through several algebra classes - College Algebra, Algebra 1 and Algebra 2. It is a really a great piece of math software. I remember of going through difficulties with evaluating formulas, mixed numbers and distance of points. I would simply type in a problem homework, click on Solve – and step by step solution to my algebra homework. I highly recommend the program.
